Alcohol and Drug Counsellor in Hove
David Futter
Counselling for individuals
I am an experienced addiction counsellor working with people that wish to change their relationship with alcohol dependency and drug misuse. In my work, I aim to support people in understanding their own patterns and accepting the more uncomfortable parts of themselves and their past experience.
From this point of compassionate acceptance, I aim to offer a safe and creative space in which clients can explore new ways of being, not only with alcohol but also with friends, family, work and other relationships that may underpin why they have chosen to use alcohol in the first place.
About Me
For three years I worked at a Brighton based drug and alcohol recovery service where I supported a wide variety of individuals all wishing to change their relationship with drugs and alcohol.

I have a special interest in working with people who have experienced trauma and childhood abuse. I recognise that alcohol can often be used to soothe the emotional pain caused by abuse. Since 2014 I have worked at Mankind in Hove, where I provide counselling support for male survivors of sexual abuse.

I am also trained to work with adolescents and have worked in several secondary schools and sixth form colleges across Sussex and South London.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework.
